Exelon Fire Rescue, Station 90
EFR is the on site fire, ems, and rescue service for the Eddystone Generating Station. Our department is the first due technical rescue team within the plant, and are assisted in our rescue efforts by Eddystone Fire Department. The team is trained in confined space, trench, and high and low angle rescue. The team is also the hazardous materials team, and is responsible for maintaining the safe working conditions on all the jobs within the facility.


In addition to our services as firefighters, EMT's and rescuers we are the insuing authority for all confined space entry permits on site and are responsible for monitoring air quality, and all aspects of safety within them. Exelon Fire Rescue also is responsible for the inspection, and distribution of safety equipment within the plant, such as fall protection harnesses, lanyards, air monitors, respritory protection, etc... . The department also is responsible for the inspections of fire protection systems, such as standpipes, hydrants, deluge systems, fire extinguishers, and foam systems.


Station 90 has on-site training facilities used for our daily in-house training within the platoons, and when classes are held on site, a 170,000 gallon storage vessel used for confined space rescue, with vertical and horizantal manway doors, and scaffolding; A one-hundred foot tower used for high angle rescue training. Access to a multiple floor industrial structure used for fire service training evolutions.

The Staff of Station 90
The department has four platoons of full-time firefighters. Each team has a captain who runs all aspects of his respective platoon. There is also a staff of part-time firefighters who support the platoons. The department operates on twelve hour shifts.
Training
Each platoon conducts in-house training on a daily basis. The teams drill on all emerency services functions, as well as the regulations, standards, and policies that govern our jobs. The teams train a minimum of two to three hours a shift. This training can be anything from ropes and knots training, to mechanical advantage systems, confined space to high angle rescues, a incipient fire evolution to an ems drill.
